Why I Built DrawFunder
Built by a fundraiser, for fundraisers.
When I ran the London Marathon, I wanted to raise as much as I could for a cause close to my heart.
At first, the donations came flooding in. Friends, family and colleagues were incredibly generous, but after that initial wave of support, things naturally slowed down. I still had a fundraising target to reach, so I started looking for other ways to encourage people to get involved.
That’s when I decided to try running prize draws.
I organised three alongside my fundraising, and they made a real difference. They brought fresh interest, gave people another reason to support me and ultimately helped me reach my target.
But running those draws was harder than it needed to be. I couldn’t find a free-to-use, end-to-end system designed for individual fundraisers. I had to manage information separately, export data and deal with the hassle of moving money between my personal bank account and my fundraising page.
I remember thinking, surely there must be an easier way?
So I decided to build one myself. And that’s how DrawFunder was born.
I wanted to create something simple, free to use and transparent, with safeguards designed around UK prize draw requirements. A platform where individual fundraisers can run prize draws alongside their existing fundraising pages, without handling donations themselves or juggling spreadsheets.
My hope is that DrawFunder makes fundraising a little easier, helps you bring more people into your fundraising journey and gives you another way to reach your target.
